The island of Flores, which means flower in Portuguese, is located between the Saru and Flores Sea. The most enticing attraction of the island, and what brings most travellers to Flores, is Mt Kelimutu, a soaring volcano with unique colored crater lakes, in aquamarine, ochre red and brow.
Neighboring Flores is Komodo National Park, which includes three main islands; Rinca, Komodo, and Padar. The Park is deservedly on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List and home of the famous Komodo Dragons.
The three islands are of volcanic origin. It is here you’ll also find a world of endemic species. It’s a wildlife enthusiast’s paradise. The coast and coral reef which fringes the islands is magnificent too.
